the Break the Glass Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to its mission to support and pay tribute to the founding fathers of the “Renaissance JAZZ Era”. Each year; BTG Enterprises (www.btgenterprises.org) in conjunction with the Waterside Jazz Legends organization chooses artists to honor with an award and a monetary gift to show appreciation for their immeasurable contributions to the world with their wonderful music and unselfish commitment in helping to preserve our musical heritage. Now in their “Golden Years” many of our jazz greats, due to a lack of retirement pensions, healthcare insurance and other necessities of life in the new millennium are unable to enjoy a well deserved retired life. Often they are forced to continue working and endure grueling travel schedules despite increased cost of living and poor health.
